Summary

Sell for all product groups within SMS group at a designated customer region. Manage and be involved in whenever possible all SMS group activities at customer locations. Develop relationships within a specific customer locations across all business areas; maintenance, operations and purchasing. Maintain good working relationship with customer and develop personal relationships when possible.

• Responsible for sales volume at a given customer with a specific region as assigned by Director of Central Sales, bring RFQs and potential sales opportunities from designated customer locations.
• In instances of new equipment installation and/or significant repair and modernization projects, serve as intermediary between project execution team and long term service, E&A and digitalization teams.
• Assist in proper handover between project team and service/spare parts in the case of new equipment installed at greenfield or brownfield locations.
• Review and advise on proposals prior to submission to the customer and submit or approve/authorize proposal submissions.
• Develop or assist in creation of scope of work or required supply for spare parts, repairs, prospective projects, and/or field service opportunities.
• Interact with Estimators, Account Specialists and Product Managers/Specialists to explain/clarify work scope for repairs and modernizations and/or spare part RFQs.
• Work with customers to develop concepts for improvement of customer equipment.
• Interact with other SMS group companies and divisions including corporate management on all work provided for a given customer.
• Interact with SMS group Repair and Modernization team on equipment improvements & specification changes.
• Interact with customer personnel in regards to work performed by SMS Service Center and/or spare parts supply.
• Complete reporting requirements for customer, including but not limited to meeting reports, expense reports, CRM updates, updating customer contact information and installed base.
• On site review/repair of customer equipment issues, including aiding in resolving warranty claims.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by SMS upper management.
• Aid in coordinating all projects involving multiple SMS facilities and entities for givenaccounts
• Provide customer and SMS facilities with frequent status reports
• Ensure project schedules and/or deliveries are being met, if not communicate with customer and SMS facilities and/or Business Units
• Support customer during startup and commissioning of projects. Provide feedback to SMS facilities and/or Business Units

What you'll need

• Engineering degree with 5+ years steel/metals industry experience or 8+ years of steel/metals industry experience
• Sales background, negotiating skills and manufacturing understanding a plus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with high-level customers
• Knowledge of project management principles and practices
• Strong team player and the ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and multi task.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure annuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, drawing or schedule form.
• Computer Skills: SAP CRM, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Project Software, Engineering Software (CAD/CAM) – not required but useful
